Inside G2 Racing
When i first started all i would run was Low G1 horses for cheap races and claimers, Top G1 for average nomination races and level weights and Challenge for big nomination races and challenge races.
My attitude towards G2 Racing changed in the last month of last season becuase my stable hit a bad patch and after a lot of consideration i was ready to sell up because will all have budgets and the fun was going out of Virtual Racing for me.
I decided to have a go at the end of year Challenge races for G2's.I only had 4 G2 horses.Had a good G2 filly so decided to enter the Challenge G2 end of season race which was a nomination of £5 and you DO NOT NEED YOUR HORSE SUPPED to enter.
Wow i WON the £90 Race and was running round the living room..............The thrill was as good as winning a Top Race.I wished i had more G2's and entered more G2 Challenge Races.
So from that moment my attitude changed towards G2 Racing i had the hunger back to win more and get more G2 Horses ready for the following season.
This is how i run my G2 Stable.
G2 horses are cheap to run as well as still having fun.
When you have bought a horse from the sales ring and the horse trial times are not great but beat the barrier horse, you may get a G2 horse once trained up to 90%.
If the horse gets G2 then add Blinkers first to see if they work then shoes and Gelding if needed.
If you get good adds then run another cycle to find best going and double check distance.
You could have a good G2 with all adds.
If you are not sure how good your horse is then please email me for advice.
Races to Enter.
Since you horse has now been graded the fist race should be an Maiden Race .Make it a full field G2 race over right distance and going and you could win most of your money back in one hit if you have a good G2 with the first win.
Once you get a win then go through the divisions and watch the weight because weight is a big factor in racing as well as best distance and going.
Always race your horses from 95%.
If you have a G2 horse that struggles i use these as race fillers. What i mean by this is that sometimes it pays to run a good G2 with a bad G2 to make sure you have enough runners in a race.
I have had quite a few low G2 horses that get good jockeys in a race and beat my better G2.
The reason i keep lower G2 horses is because of this and because they could get a good age change and spring them into a different level of racing.
Just remember you get paid in Bonus Credits for every 50 wins and 500 runs which you can spend on Tack and Horses. You could pull a monster horse and sell for big money or make loads of money.
Buying G2's from Claimers and Auctions.
When buying horses from a claimer and auctions you should look out for the following:
Horses that win or place with low % jockeys in full field races. This can always turn up a good horse for many more wins.
Horses that have been running at different distances because maybe the owner has limited experience.
Beware of small races because they could be owner races.
G2 horses are cheap horses so they are not worth alot so dont pay stupid amounts in claimers and auctions. If you are not sure speak to a fellow owner with knowledge.
Age Change
Most sprinters average 1 to 1.5 for age change and stayers 2 to 2.5.
If your horses has a bad age change it might take a few cycles to show the true effect of could have been a bad cycle so make sure you do at least 3 cycles after age change to get the true effect.
If you have some lowish G2's they might be worth keeping for age change because i have had some get massive age changes and spring them into a different league of racing and start winning.
Rated Races
Rated races are a new addition to Raceclubs, these races do not count towards normal racing they are on a seperate platform.
This means if you win a rated race the wins do not count towards normal racing.
The only thing in Rated Races is that weight is a big factor,so you will need to monitor the horses weight because you will gain weight for wins and places.
This great addition is another way for your horses to earn good money as well normal racing.
Good Luck in your races and have fun.
If you are not a member of Race Clubs why not open a stable because there is a very good offer on a the moment.
